Order of Battle vs New Recruit for The Old World
Last updated:
New Recruit and Order of Battle are both free and both build Old World lists, but they're built for different moments. New Recruit (newrecruit.eu) is a multi-game builder that grew out of The 9th Age community. Its strengths are strict legality checks, lists synced to an account, offline use, and a tournament system with sign-ups and rankings. Players often say the interface feels dated and note it doesn't show rules text. Order of Battle is a lighter browser app with no account. It flags composition limits as you build, then turns the same list into Play for the game itself: wounds, magic, phases, army rules and victory points. It has no cloud sync and no tournament tools, and its Old World side is in beta. If your list has to go to a tournament organiser, use New Recruit. If you want the list beside you during the game on your phone, try Order of Battle.
